Pineapple Fruit Powder

Pineapple fruit powder is made from dried and ground pineapple fruit. The process typically involves dehydrating fresh pineapple, often through spray-drying or freeze-drying, to remove moisture and create a concentrated powder form. This preserves many of the fruit's natural characteristics.

Manufacturers use pineapple fruit powder primarily for its natural flavour and sweetness, acting as a flavouring agent. It can also contribute to the colour and nutritional profile of products. It is commonly found in dietary supplements, smoothies, health drinks, and sometimes in baked goods or confectionery.

Pineapple fruit powder is generally considered a food ingredient rather than a regulated food additive in the UK. It is not listed on the Register of Food Additive Authorisations. It provides nutrients found in pineapple, such as vitamin C and manganese. Some research suggests that bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapple, may have anti-inflammatory properties, though more robust evidence is needed for definitive health claims.
