Beef Collagen Casing

Beef collagen casings are made from the collagen extracted from the connective tissues of beef. This material is processed and formed into a tube shape, which is then filled with meat mixtures to create sausages or other processed meat products. The casing provides structure and helps the product maintain its shape during cooking.

Beef collagen casings are primarily used in the manufacture of sausages and other meat products where a consistent shape and texture are desired. They offer a convenient alternative to natural casings, providing a uniform size and cooking performance. They are found in products like sausages, hot dogs, and some types of cured meats.

Beef collagen casings are not considered a food additive and are therefore not listed on the Register of Food Additive Authorisations. They are a source of protein. Evidence regarding the health benefits or risks of consuming collagen is still developing, and it is not typically associated with significant health concerns when consumed as part of a balanced diet.
