Cauliflower florets

Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable, a cultivar of Brassica oleracea. It is typically grown for its edible white, dense flower head, which is composed of undeveloped flower buds. It is cultivated worldwide and is a popular vegetable in many cuisines.

Cauliflower is primarily used as a vegetable in its own right, either cooked or raw. Manufacturers may include it in ready meals, frozen vegetable mixes, soups, and side dishes. It is valued for its mild flavour and versatility in recipes.

Cauliflower is a whole food and not a food additive, so it does not have an E-number or require authorisation on the Register of Food Additive Authorisations. It is a source of fibre and various vitamins and minerals. As part of a balanced diet, vegetables like cauliflower contribute to overall health. There are no specific regulatory concerns or notable controversies regarding the consumption of cauliflower at typical dietary intakes.
