Rapeseed Oil Tomato Paste

Rapeseed oil is a vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the rapeseed plant. The seeds are typically cleaned, crushed, and then the oil is extracted using mechanical pressing and/or solvent extraction. The resulting oil is then refined to remove impurities and achieve the desired flavour and colour.

Rapeseed oil is a versatile cooking oil used in a wide range of food products due to its neutral flavour and high smoke point. It functions as a fat or oil, providing moisture and texture in baked goods, dressings, marinades, and processed foods. It is also commonly used for frying and general cooking.

Rapeseed oil is a source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The UK's Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) considers it a common cooking oil. There are no specific EU or UK regulations classifying it as a food additive requiring an E-number. Research into the health effects of specific fatty acid profiles in oils is ongoing, with various studies exploring their impact on cardiovascular health.
