Cherry tomatoes: Nutrition Facts and Calories

This category covers small, round tomatoes, often sold on the vine or loose in punnets. Cherry tomatoes are typically eaten raw in salads, as snacks, or used in cooking. The ingredient list for packaged cherry tomatoes will usually show just one ingredient: tomatoes. If any other ingredients are present, such as oil or herbs, they will be listed after tomatoes in descending order of weight. Nutrition labels on packaged cherry tomatoes will show values for energy, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, protein, and fibre. Tomatoes naturally contain sugars. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) advises that free sugars should not exceed 5% of total dietary energy. Salt content in fresh tomatoes is generally very low, and the FSA recommends adults consume no more than 6g of salt a day. The fibre content is also shown on the nutrition label. All values are shown per 100 g so products can be compared.
